Wildcrafted Elderflower Tincture

$15.00

Black Elder (Sumbucus Nigra) has a rich history of being used medicinally, and of being studied for their antiviral activities. In fact, it's a staple in the German Commission E, which is the scientific advisory board of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices! This elderflower tincture may be used to ease cold and flu symptoms, and inhibit the viral replication process.

Each listing is for one 2oz dropper bottle. This batch was decanted in July 2024.

Here are some journal articles if you’re interested in learning more, but please remember to always do your own research.

Zakay-Rones, Zichria, et al. "Inhibition of several strains of influenza virus in vitro and reduction of symptoms by an elderberry extract (Sambucus nigra L.) during an outbreak of influenza B Panama." The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine 1.4 (1995): 361-369.

Roschek Jr, Bill, et al. "Elderberry flavonoids bind to and prevent H1N1 infection in vitro." Phytochemistry 70.10 (2009): 1255-1261.

Serkedjieva, Julia, et al. "Antiviral activity of the infusion (SHS‐174) from flowers of Sambucus nigra L., aerial parts of Hypericum perforatum L., and roots of Saponaria officinalis L. against influenza and herpes simplex viruses." Phytotherapy Research 4.3 (1990): 97-100.

Dosage is up to one dropperful three times a day. If you’re new to tinctures, start slow with half a dropperful each dosage. Drops can be taken under your tongue, but I prefer mine in a tasty beverage or some lemon water. Store in a cool, dry place, and tinctures should be good for up to 24 months from manufacture date. Discard if you note any changes to the smell.

Ingredients: Distilled corn vodka (40 ABV), responsibly foraged elderflowers (Sambucus nigra).
